What is the AFP Test?
The Alfa Fetoprotein (AFP) test measures the levels of AFP, a protein produced by the liver and yolk sac of a developing fetus. In adults, elevated AFP levels may indicate the presence of liver disease, certain types of cancer, or abnormal pregnancies, such as neural tube defects or liver conditions like cirrhosis and hepatitis.
