What is Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD)?
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) is one of the key enzymes to maintain red blood cells' health, especially their oxidative damage. A person with G6PD deficiency is said to suffer from hemolytic anemia. It is not difficult to have this condition as it is an inherited recessive trait with a greater prevalence in males than females.
